Our engineers have continued to perfect manufacturing methods since 1981. Learn more on the science behind hardwood laminate for insight on how a Boyds gunstock provides more strength, and much more durability than solid wood. Boyds gunstocks are tight where they need to be tight loose where they need to be loose for superior performance and improved accuracy you can measure. We engineer Boyds gunstocks to fit precisely on its specified gun model. You'll find valuable information on action lengths, barrel channel variations, and more! Prior to 1945 date codes were in Roman numerals and included the month and the last two numbers of the year, so January 1922 would be rendered IXXII.Boyds uses only top-grade hardwoods because a hardwood stock performs! Beretta firearms produced in Italy carry a proof mark for the year of production. Last week I purchased a new Beretta's semi-auto (A400 Xcel, 12 Ga) from one of the country's biggest retailers. Our Beretta age lookup tool works with any side-by-side, over-and-under, or semi-automatic shotgun. After I registered the gun on Beretta's web site using the SN printed on the receiver, I was expecting an acknowledging email from Beretta's.

In the past, I've purchased three other guns and I've always received the acknowledging. To find your gun’s year of proof, simply enter the date code. The chart below is used to identify the year by this mark. For recent pistols this mark is usually located on the frame near the trigger guard, for older pistols, the mark is on the slide or on the frame behind the grip area. Shotguns have this mark stamped on the barrel near the chamber. You may need to remove the barrel to read the mark. In some cases the actual date was stamped instead of these marks, this is normally seen on older pistols. Search the FBI Lost and Stolen Gun Serial Number Database. We have also seen markings where roman and numerical figures are combined, for example XX 8 instead of the listed XXVIII for year 1972. When a firearm is lost or stolen, the owner should immediately report it to the police. In fact, if a gun is lost or stolen from an FFL, the law requires the FFL to report the missing firearm to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF).
